The character and artwork are designed around Genmaicha, a green tea with roasted rice that has toasty flavors and adds a bit of redness to the tea. Since Genmaicha used to be a 'poor people' tea, the character is designed to wear a more working class attire.
The lid is decorated with tea and small dots resembling roasted rice.
